The quickest and easiest route to get from King’s Cross to Stansted Airport is take the underground to Tottenham Hale using the Victoria Line (light blue), then take the Stansted Express to Stansted Airport from Tottenham Hale. You can use your Oyster or contactless card on the underground, but will need to purchase a ticket for the Stansted Express to take you from Tottenham Hale to Stansted Airport.  

The journey takes just over an hour from Kings Cross to Stansted Airport, and once you arrive at the airport train station the main terminal is a quick 2-3 minute walk. You can ask the staff at the station to direct you to the terminal or follow the prominent signage directing you there.  

To get the best price on tickets to Stansted Airport from Tottenham Hale, on the Stansted Express, you can book in advance. Tickets start at £9.50 for a one-way journey.  Return tickets are flexible, allowing you to travel any time within one month. Further savings can be made with group or webduo tickets, so if you are travelling with companions these may be good options for you.

  • Once you get on the Stansted Express service at Tottenham Hale, the train will take you directly to the airport and it’s only a 2-3 minute sheltered walk to the main terminal from there, making the Stansted Express service the easiest and most convenient method of public transport for this journey.
  • The Stansted Express service starts at 05.30am and finishes at 12.30am, with regular trains running approximately every 30 minutes.
  • Stansted Express tickets are flexible, you can travel on any train on the outward date you booked and return anytime within that month.

The distance between Stansted Airport and King’s Cross is 30 miles by rail and 34.9 miles by road. The quickest and easiest route is to take the Victoria line (light blue) from King’s Cross to Tottenham Hale and then take the Stansted Express to the airport train station, and from there it’s just a few minutes walk to the main terminals.  

Please note your Stansted Express ticket is not valid on the underground, but you can purchase Tube tickets at King’s Cross (or use your Oyster/contactless card) for the first leg of this journey and use your Stansted Express ticket from Tottenham Hale to Stansted Airport.

There isn’t a direct train to Stansted Airport from London King’s Cross. The fastest route is to take the underground Victoria line (light blue) to Tottenham Hale and get the Stansted Express from there. Please note that Stansted Express tickets are not valid on the underground, but you will be able to use your contactless/ Oyster card or buy an underground ticket from Paddington Station for the underground leg of this journey.

The Stansted Express train service to Stansted Airport starts at London Liverpool Street Station, stopping just once at Totteham Hale Station. You can catch the Stansted Express from either of these London Stations. The journey from Liverpool Street takes 50 minutes and from Tottenham Hale 36 minutes.

Stansted Airport is not on an Underground line. To get to Stansted Airport, you can take the Stansted Express from London Liverpool Street (journey time: 50 minutes) or Tottenham Hale (Journey time: 36 minutes) to take you to Stansted Airport train station, which is only 2-3 minutes walk from the main terminal. Trains run every 30 minutes.
