M11 roadworks to delay airport transfers by 35 minutes

Road travel between Central London and Stansted Airport will be severely disrupted for six weeks, between 1st October and 13 November. Delays of at least 35 minutes are expected during this time.

Northbound: London to Stansted Airport

The M11 northbound will close from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday between junction 7 (Harlow) and junction 8 (Stansted Airport). Work is scheduled to last from Tuesday 1 October to Wednesday 23 October. 

Southbound: Stansted Airport to London

The M11 southbound will close from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday between junction 8 (Stansted Airport) and junction 7 (Harlow). Work is scheduled to last from Monday 21 October to Wednesday 13 November.

Accidents and congestion cause further delays

Roads between London and Stansted Airport are particularly busy during the morning and evening rush hours, which can delay travel to and from the airport. Regular congestion also increases the likelihood of accidents, which can occur without warning at any time. Junction 7 between London and Stansted Airport is well known to be an accident blackspot.

Get there quicker by train

A journey time of just 47 minutes between Stansted and Central London, means there’s no quicker way to travel between Central London and Stansted Airport.

Our trains run between Stansted and Liverpool Street every 15 minutes throughout the day, and every 30 minutes in the early morning and late evening.

Get there in comfort
