All our trains are accessible for wheelchair users and passengers with reduced mobility. There are accessible toilets on board, and our staff are on hand to help you get on and off the train.
Mobility scooters and wheelchairs
You can travel on Stansted Express with a mobility scooter or a wheelchair – as long as it fits on our train-to-platform ramp, and can manoeuvre safely inside our trains.
We can carry wheelchairs and mobility scooters up to 1200mm long by 700mm wide. Our ramps can accept a maximum weight of 300kg, which is the combined weight of your mobility scooter or wheelchair with you using it.
While waiting on the platform for your train, please stay well behind the yellow line and ensure you fully apply the brakes on your wheelchair or scooter for your own safety.
Assistance dogs are very welcome on all our trains, free of charge, and can travel in any part of the train. As our trains operate without seat reservations please ask the member of staff who assists you on-board if you need help to find a suitable space for you and your dog.
With lifts, ramps, and easily accessible platforms, Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street have step-free access throughout the station.
These seats are designed for easy access for people with mobility impairments but are also available for the use of other people who may need them including but not limited to; disabled people (remember some disabilities aren’t visible), Older people, expectant mothers, someone carrying an infant.
Priority seating is labelled and we would request that customers ask politely if they need a seat. Remember that the person using it may also have a need for it. If you feel unable to ask for one we have priority seat cards, sunflower lanyards and I need a seat badges.
