What to do if...
...your ticket is lost or stolen
Monthly or annual season ticket holders need to notify the ticket office where you bought the ticket as soon as possible so that we can issue you with a duplicate. We charge a small admin fee to cover the cost of issuing a new card. If you recover your old ticket at a later date, please let us know straight away.
We can only issue a second duplicate if the original ticket is returned to us within one month of you reporting it missing, or if the first or second request for a duplicate is as a result of other exceptional circumstances, such as theft, robbery or fire (you must report any incident to the police). We cannot issue more than two duplicates within any 12-month period under any circumstances.
...your ticket is damaged or doesn't work
We'll give you a free replacement at the ticket office where we issued the original ticket.
...you leave your ticket at home
If your ticket is for over a month or more, you have to buy the appropriate ticket to cover the journey you’re taking. Refunds may be available on all or part of the return fare, for the first two occasions you forget your ticket in a 12-month period.
You'll need to keep the tickets you buy for when you claim your refund - proof of purchase is not enough. You should make your claim for a refund within 28 days of travel, at the office where you bought your season ticket.
Buying your ticket is easy...
1. Print out and fill in an application form
2. Take it to the Stansted Express ticket office
3. Pay by cash, cheque, credit or debit card, rail warrant or personal cheque*
To validate your season ticket, you'll need a valid photocard, which you should carry with you whenever you travel. If you've already got one, great. If not, you'll need to bring a passport-sized photograph with you so we can issue you with one.
* You'll need a cheque-guarantee card to pay with a personal cheque.
